This is a 1935 news photograph signed and inscribed "To John Shepard 3d/Sincerely/Babe Ruth" by Babe Ruth. The striking photo captures Ruth at the plate during pregame batting practice in 1935 while several cameramen kneel alongside him capturing the action.  A Thorne credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with a pair of handwritten notations that consist of Ruth's team affiliation "Braves" and a descriptive caption that reads "Ruth doing his stuff for the cameras & fans." Ruth played with the Braves only in 1935, which conclusively dates the photo to that year. The photo is approximately 7.5x9.5" and displays a few light creases.
