This is a signed payroll check from the Chicago Cubs to Joseph Jaeger who then gave it to Grover Cleveland Alexander who endorsed the check as well. Being a payroll check the signature of Bill Veeck adorns the front of the check. The year is quite significant because it was the last of his 3 pitching Triple Crown winning seasons. To say Grover Cleveland Alexander signed items are scarce is an extreme understatement and couple with the fact its on a payroll check from his Triple Crown season is folklore.
It is PSA encapsulated and received a grade of 8. PSA averages out the grades of all the signatures on the pieces and with the Veeck signature a bit faded and the Jaeger signature also not perfect would bring down the grade of the piece. The Alexander signature is one of the strongest I've ever seen of his.
