This is a game used bat from Ty Cobb authenticated by MEARS with a grade of A6. It has all the tell tale signs of a typical Cobb bat. There are tons of cleat marks at the end of the barrel knocking out all the dirt. The dark residue on the end of the barrel is because Cobb liked to soak his bats in tobacco juice before use so the grains of the bat would get tar in them and strengthen the weakest part of the bat. The bat measures a perfect 34.5 inches which Cobb was known to specifically want and weighs 35.7 oz which is right in line with what Cobb used during this period. The reason the bat says "Type of bat used by Cobb" is because the major brand at the time, Hillerich and Bradsby, sued any bat manufacturer that had the players name on it or their signature on the barrel citing copyright infringement. Litigations between H&B and Zinn Beck went on for years until a settlement was reached.

Recently unearthed is a telegram from Cobb to Zinn Beck ordering half a dozen bats in his model. He also states in the telegram that he was very satisfied with the other Zinn Beck bats he used. This is proof that Cobb did in fact use Zinn Beck bats in games. The only mystery about this bat is how many hits Cobb obtained while using this bat.
